Industry-standard issue tracking and agile project management tool from Atlassian. Deeply configurable for software development workflows with sprints, backlogs, and release management.
Our take
Jira is the undisputed king of software development project management, and for good reason — its sprint planning, backlog management, and workflow customization are unmatched. The free tier for up to 10 users is genuinely useful. But Jira's depth is also its weakness: setup and configuration can take weeks, and the learning curve discourages non-technical team members. Real costs are higher than sticker price once you add Confluence, Marketplace apps, and Guard. The new Maximum Quantity Billing model means you pay for peak usage, even if team size fluctuates. Best for engineering teams who need agile workflow management and are willing to invest in proper setup.
