Basecamp takes a deliberately opinionated approach: no Gantt charts, no Kanban boards, no complex workflows. Instead, you get message boards, to-do lists, schedules, and group chat — per project, always organised the same way. For teams drowning in tool complexity, this simplicity is liberating. The Pro Unlimited flat-rate pricing ($299/month) is exceptional value for large teams. The downside is obvious: if you need timelines, dependencies, resource management, or detailed reporting, Basecamp simply doesn't do those things. The lack of native integrations beyond Zapier can also be frustrating. Best for teams that value communication-driven project management and want cost predictability.
